Guess who’s back…

Posted by Del on August 19th, 2008

…back again, lol. So we got back from Virginia Sunday night around 7ish, it was really weird to tell you the truth. The weather had been rainy all the way through South Carolina and when we got back into Charleston it was just a weird type of hazy look to the atmosphere… kept feeling like I needed to wipe my glasses :)).

Anyhoo, Virginia was good and I had a nice time visiting and whatnot, but I definitely think 2 weeks without my own car was too much, lol. Seriously, I felt like a caged cat by the time the first week was over… especially when there would be something I needed or wanted and I couldn’t just hop in the car with the kids and go get it. Nope, had to wait until my IL’s got home from work in the afternoon :-<. We did end up going to West Virginia to visit hubby’s Papaw and some of his aunts/uncles/and cousins while we were there. We even went to the WV State Fair, no offense but when you come from a state like California and have seen what a huge fair with everything’s got it’s a little bit of a let down to see a fair like the one in WV. It was still nice though so I’m not gonna complain.

Our new couches are due to be delivered sometime tomorrow, the furniture people are supposed to call and let me know a time today. I did manage to get all of Haley’s school supplies while in VA and last night she got to meet her new teacher and see where she’s going to be sitting in class :). She started school today and was quite excited and a little nervous at the same time, lol. Got a couple of pics of her in the class and with her teacher so I will probably put those up in the ‘pictures’ section of the site. If you need the password just leave a comment stating so… if you’re a frequent visitor or someone I know well enough then I’ll send it to you, if however you are a new visitor or a stranger to me still then I’m sorry but I probably won’t send you the password… no offense. Michael is still home for another year thanks to having a late birthday, but he seems quite well at the moment having the house all to himself, lol.

Now while I was in VA I picked up the book Twilight by Stephenie Meyer and holy fuzzy, but I had the hardest time putting that book down… I mean I was ENGROSSED in the whole story!! It’s almost an obsession at this point just ask Jo, rofl! So right after I finished the first book I went out and bought the 2nd one (New Moon) and oh man I freaking cried like a baby reading that book… I mean really, for a book to bring me to sob-like tears is saying something, lol. Sooo…. as soon as I finished that one I went out and got the 3rd and 4th book (Eclipse & Breaking Dawn), lol! I know patheticly obsessed =))! I can’t wait for the author to release Midnight Sun, but who knows when that’ll be… in the meantime I guess I’ll go read my books more than 2 times now, lol.

In other book/movie news, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (the movie) won’t be out in theaters until next Summer now… dang it and I REALLY was looking forward to seeing it, what a tease, lol! On the other hand Twilight the movie took the HP slot in the theater release date and will be out 3 weeks earlier than originally scheduled, so if I’m in California for Thanksgiving I know exactly who will be going with me to see it, lol!

Well, I guess I have a pile of laundry that needs to be taken care of along with cleaning and rearranging things in the livingroom for the furniture tomorrow. TTFN my sweet peep’s and I’ll be back soon hopefully, lol… if not throw me the life raft 8-}!!!

Last minute vacation and update on Aubrey…

Posted by Del on August 2nd, 2008

Well I’m in Virginia now :D My MIL & FIL called on Wednesday and asked if I wanted to come up with the kids to stay with them since David was going to be leaving for an ORI (Operational Readiness Inspection) in Michigan, so I talked it over with him and then decided that I would go ahead and go. Well then Thursday he calls the furniture company (don’t recall if I mentioned we’re getting new couches this month :D…) and they tell him that the couches will be arriving on the 5th and he tells me then that I can’t leave since someone has to be here to receive them. Well I know how my darling hubby can be and I know he didn’t ask many questions, lol. So I called them up Friday morning and asked them what the process is and where the couches go first and who gets called when, they get a call 2 days before the furniture arrives with THEM and then they call US and schedule a good date for delivery. Sheesh, so I was good to go :P So all yesterday evening I spent packing our clothes for the car ride at 9:30am… man was I tired (:| I went to bed at 1am and woke up at 5:45am and went for my run at 6am since I hadn’t run yesterday morning. So here I am… 9-something at night and my eyes are HURTING, lol!! I’m SO going to sleep soundly tonight |-) So before I go heading to bed, I’m gonna catch you all up on what’s going on with my friend Renee’s daughter Aubrey which I wrote out this morning.

Aubrey was given a referral by the doctor on base to be taken to MUSC Peds ER on Thursday morning where they gave her two bags of IV Fluids to rehydrate her and kept her there the whole morning and most of the afternoon. As far as they could tell without seeing the lab work they had no idea what was wrong with her and couldn’t give her any medication to treat her since they couldn’t diagnose it.

Yesterday I called Renee to see how Aubrey was doing and for the better part I guess you could say she’s feeling slightly better (which I know for sure had to do with being so dehydrated), she’s still having diarrhea and milder stomach cramps. The doctor’s or nurses for that matter haven’t gotten back to her about the labs, but I can tell you from my own personal resources :-" that the labs are indeed in, lol. So I guess at this point since it’s the weekend she’ll just have to wait until Monday to talk to the doctor, I suggested she just go up there and talk to either him or his nurse since according to the appointment line it’ll take the doctor 3 days to just return her phone call (I think it’s crazy to have to wait even this long on reading lab work!).

Haley got to talk to her friend on the phone yesterday and it was the cutest thing to hear them tell each other they loved one another and that she hopes she gets better really soon :) She was thanking Haley (and Michael) for the get well soon card and gift they gave her. Lol, I decided against Haley getting her flowers because it just seemed a bit morbid to tell someone get well soon and in a couple of days your flowers die… yeah I think that way :P

Anyhoo, if I hear anything else or if they ever figure out what’s going on I’ll let you all know and just to let you know Renee and her family REALLY appreciate(d) the prayers that were sent and thanks you all :)

Well that’s it for me today, I’m out like trout dude’s and dudette’s, lol! Oh one more thing!! I updated CFC with new graphics and a new layout and I had to reinstall a new plugboard, so if you’ve got a site and a logo the size of 88×31 then feel free to post and if you get a chance leave me a tag and let me know whatcha think ;)

Okay now I’m off to la-la land… |-)

Asking for prayers… (cross-posted)

Posted by Del on July 31st, 2008

I’m asking for prayers for my best friend Renee and her daughter Aubrey who has been sick for the last 12 days now. It started out with a stomach ache that lasted about 7-8 days and that was the only thing she complained about, then in the last 4-5 days it has gotten significantly worse to the point where she can’t eat and has lost so much weight now that she’s weak and frail and needs carrying to just use the bathroom :( The doctors took some blood work from her earlier this week and still no real diagnosis other than it was either salmonella poisoning or a parasite… they weren’t sure. Renee and I had been talking about it for the last week that we thought maybe it was a parasite, but now it’s gotten SO much worse since our talk on Monday that it’s becoming a HIGH possibility that maybe that is what’s causing it. David got a call from my friend asking for help since he works at the clinic and I think he was able to get her back in today because all Aubrey is doing is having bowel movements that are nothing but liquid and battling fevers as well… whatever she has is slowly but surely getting worse now. She hasn’t eaten in about 6 days now and just yesterday her dad was able to get a toaster strudel in her, but only to have it come right back out in liquid form that same morning. Her son isn’t sick and is in perfectly good condition so we honestly don’t think it’s salmonella poisoning, we just really hope the doctors can tell her something or refer her to MUSC for treatment and further testing to see what is causing it.

Haley’s sad because this is her best friend and she wants to play with her and knows she can’t because she’s that sick, I wanted to go over there to show my support but I’m afraid of how Haley will react to seeing Aubrey so ill… she’s VERY emotional and like me extremely sensitive to what others are feeling.

Please please please say a prayer for her, I love this girl almost as if she were my own and my best friend Renee feels so helpless and distraught over it :( She asked her mom and grandma this morning if she was going to die and that just served to make every single one of us cry… she’s really scared now the poor thing :(

We’re going to pick up some flowers and a card for her in the hopes that it at least cheers her up somewhat and Haley’s drawing a picture for her to let her know she loves and cares about her and wants her to get better soon.
